Feature: Rene Alise, Stylist.

1. What inspires you?

The way fashion constantly changes itself inspires me. I also find inspiration on the pages of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. I'm also inspired by those that are successful at what I want to do such as Nicole Chavez, Rachel Zoe, and June Ambrose.

2. What are your favorite products?

My favorite products are my rose gold Michael Kors watch, it demands attention and adds a refined look to any outfit, and also my black suede wedges, they're comfortable and go with pretty much anything.

3. Who have you worked with?

I've worked with several local boutiques, designers such as Aveia Collections and The Goods Clo, as well as PrimetimeX magazine.

4. What are some future projects you're working on?

I have a networking mixer and trunk show coming up on August 10th. On September 14th, my business partner D'Mani and I will be having our first fashion show and we'll be styling the whole thing together. I'm also working on trying to set up shoots with local boutiques where D'Mani and I style all the pieces in the boutique and then the boutique can use the photos for a lookbook or their website.

5. Where can people find your work?

My work can be found on my blog, leatherlovelace.blogspot.com. You can also find some of my work on PrimetimeX.com and on the website for my companyfashionablylateproductions.com.

6. What gives you your passion to do what you do?

I get the passion I have for this from my love of fashion, from my love of being creative. Also, seeing other people around me being unhappy with jobs and etc. that they have it makes me want to work harder so that when I look back on my life I can say that my job was something I loved doing.

7. What advice would you give to someone trying to do something in your field?

Always be positive. There's literally no room for negativity in this industry. No matter how well things are going for you, always remain humble because everything you've worked for can be taken from you in an instant. Get as many internships and/or apprenticeships as you can. You can never learn enough. Also you're not going to start off getting paid, so keep that in mind when someone tells you a shoot is TFP.

8. How did you get to where you are now?

I got to where I am now by keeping up with the trends, keeping up with designers, and just basically making sure that I know what I'm talking about when I speak on anything fashion related. I remain positive, if something doesn't work in my favor then I just move on to the next project. Also, I put myself out there. I make sure people know what I'm trying to do so that if they know of any opportunities that could benefit me, they let me know.
