How to make crinkle hair W/O a crinkle iron

i tried this tutorial myself. 

to keep the braids in use some mousse.

i use...

Smooth 'n Shine Styling Mousse to make them moist and easy to hold

and...

Softsheen Carson Style Control Spritz afterwards to keep the hold overnight. 

Don't use too much of this.
